Salesforce.com Inc. is a specialist in customer relationship management (CRM). It offers software and services through a variety solutions hosted on its cloud infrastructure. AWS has been chosen by Salesforce.com Inc. as its preferred public cloud infrastructure provider.
Salesforce will expand its partnership with AWS to facilitate international expansion of its infrastructure. AWS already hosts many products. AWS will now offer more services, including foundational products, that were previously only available on its own cloud platform.
Salesforce announced in a blog last week that it will increase its use of AWS core services, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud and App Cloud, Community Cloud, Analytics Cloud, and more, for its planned international infrastructure expansion.
Although Salesforce has been described as a cloud competitor to AWS, the company stated that tapping AWS for future infrastructure expansion will allow it to onboard new infrastructure faster and more efficiently. These core services will be added to the existing Salesforce products, including Heroku and Marketing Cloud Social Studio, SalesforceIQ and the new Salesforce IoT Cloud.
Salesforce stated that AWS has “sophisticated and robust enterprise capabilities” to support the needs of Salesforce’s global customer base. “AWS will accelerate Salesforce’s ability to bring new infrastructure online faster and more efficiently.”
Salesforce will use AWS to expand its infrastructure, but it will also continue to develop its own products. The company stated that Salesforce will continue to invest in its datacenters. “Salesforce will also use AWS in select international countries to bring new infrastructure online as part its broader datacenter strategy.”
Marc Benioff (CEO, Salesforce) stated that “We are thrilled to expand our strategic partnership with Amazon as our preferred cloud infrastructure provider.” “There is no public infrastructure provider with more enterprise capabilities or more sophistication to support our growing global customer base.”
Andy Jassy CEO of AWS stated that leading enterprises and ISVs are migrating business-critical applications to AWS Cloud to be more agile, efficient, reduce costs and take advantage the security, reliability and broad functionality we provide. Salesforce is a trusted partner for companies looking to transform their businesses. We are delighted that Salesforce has chosen AWS to be their public cloud infrastructure partner. This will allow them to continue scaling, adding new services, and maintaining their incredible momentum.
