Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Salesforce announced plans to further integrate their services to “simplify” how customers can securely share, synchronize and sync data across their respective clouds.
The new integrations were revealed earlier this week at Salesforce Dreamforce’s annual conference. AWS and Salesforce are already partners. This week’s news was described as “the next stage” of their existing partnership.
This new phase has three components. AWS will integrate PrivateLink with Salesforce APIs. PrivateLink was launched in late 2017 and provides AWS customers secure connections between their Virtual Private Clouds, VPCs, and other AWS services, VPCs, and applications running on-premises. The new integration between Salesforce, PrivateLink and AWS will allow SaaS app developers to offer private endpoints to access their service as an additional option, according to the announcement. This integration will allow developers to access core Salesforce APIs from their Amazon VPCs, and vice versa.
Second, Salesforce Platform Events integration with AWS services will be made. Salesforce Platform Events is an application notifications feature that was introduced last summer as a native component of the Salesforce platform. According to the announcement, AWS will integrate this feature with Salesforce to make it easier for customers to interact with Salesforce notifications. Salesforce stated that Salesforce events, such as the creation a sales opportunity in Salesforce, can trigger actions in AWS Lambda or other AWS products. “Once processing is complete results will be published back to Salesforce as Platform Events.”
The third is that the companies will expand on existing integrations between Amazon Connect, the cloud-based call centre solution, and Salesforce Service Cloud. “Amazon Connect for Salesforce Service Cloud allows customers to create highly dynamic, AI-driven voice experiences with a Lightning-integrated agent. Salesforce stated that this could include prebuilt data, omni-channel integration and support for bots.
“Because Salesforce runs the vast majority their public cloud workloads in AWS and Amazon relies on Salesforce across many businesses to enhance customer relations — we have a unique capability to integrate our services to provide customers with enhanced solutions,” stated Matt Garman, head AWS Compute Services. These new integrations will allow companies to harness the full power of both platforms, enabling them to drive innovation and build intelligent, connected customer experiences.
