When you are planning your IT career, choosing a certification is often a prerequisite to deciding on your next career move. 5. Desktop SupportThis entry-level position usually requires CompTIA A+ Certification. This certification validates your skills in the fundamentals and repair of computer systems. The A+ certification is the easiest to obtain of all the major certifications. You can prepare for the exam in just a few months.
4. Network AdministratorsA network administrator is the next step after desktop support. This requires at least one networking certification. Network administrators are responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting computer networks. They must have the CompTIA Network+ ™ certification. It is worth looking into networking as a career option. Don’t be fooled if the title says “associate” – this Cisco certification can be considered the most difficult at this level. 3.Network Engineer. The rise of cloud computing networks, which allow storage, management, and processing of data over-the-Internet rather than via local servers maintained on-site, has led to a variety of cloud computing certifications. CompTIA’s Cloud+ certification is a great starting point. Later, you can move on and earn new senior-level networking certifications such as the Microsoft(r) Certified Solutions Expert Private Cloud. This certification requires you to pass multiple exams after months of intensive study.
2.Software Developer – Desktop or MobileIf your goal is to become a programmer, you will need the Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer certification (MCSD). This certification allows you to create apps for the Windows operatingsystem, web, and mobile technologies. This certification is similar to other Microsoft certifications. It requires coursework and an exam.
Microsoft’s last-year’s venture into mobile computing and app development (purchasing Nokia, stepping up Windows Phone), makes it a sensible choice to look into becoming a Microsoft Windows Phone Developer. CompTIA’s Mobility+ certification is also worth a look.
1.Cybersecurity SpecialistWith hacking, identity theft, and even cyberespionage on the rise, cybersecurity positions are becoming more common in criminal justice, major corporations, and the federal government. CompTIA’s Security+ certification is a great start. Many higher-level jobs will require the Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification (CISSP). This requires five years of experience in information security and passing a difficult exam.
