Happy April Fools day everyone! Did you come up any funny jokes? We hope you enjoy some friendly pranks, but there won’t be any jokes. We mean business! So, we’re letting you know that Microsoft has updated its MCSD Web Applications exams. They are 70-486 (Developing ASP.NET 4 Web Applications) as well as 70-487 (Developing Windows Azure, Web Services). These updates are intended to keep students up-to-date with the latest trends in web application development.
Candidates will therefore be provided with the updated exam versions starting April 30, 2014. These exams will cover solutions based on Visual Studio 2013, MVC 5 and the latest developments in Windows Azure.
Microsoft has done the same with exam updates. All changes have been compiled in the form side-by-side comparision of exam objectives. These PDFs can now be found on the official website (under Skills Measured).
70-486: Developing ASP.NET 4 Web Applications
70-487: Developing Windows Azure Web Services and Windows Azure
It is important to note that Exam 70-486 will no longer have exam numbers. However, Exam 70-486 will now have the MVC version. Microsoft apparently disappointed candidates by not updating the Microsoft Official Courseware (MOC). Be careful and don’t rely solely on the obsolete MOC.
Microsoft has extended the upgrade path for MCPD Web Developer 4 to MCPD Windows Azure Developer credential holders, as Azure development and Web Application go hand in hand.
70-480: HTML5 Programming with JavaScript and CSS3
70-492: Upgrading MCPD: Web Developer 4 – MCSD: Website Applications
Your syllabus has grown if you are planning to take the MCSD exams in May, or later. We know you can do this! We wish you all the best.
